It's amazing what you come across when packing your house up...

So I was packing up Chad's office and came across two poems I wrote summer after my freshman year of school...they were stuffed away in a very cute hounds-tooth box I was storing old picture in. I thought I'd share them, if for nothing else other than so my mother could read them.

Poem 1- Not named

Hair everywhere.
Saturated.
Body weightless-no more stress, burdens lifted.
Faint, blended sounds in the distance-nothing to think about, completely emptied head.
Floating, wallowing, swimming under this hydraulic solution to my problems.
No one can bother me.
...and as I sit behind this desk, in this office I look at the over-priced pictures of ocean scenes,
lily's on water, and blue skies...
I can only imagine that peace and care free feeling of being under cool water on a warm day.
As for now the ringing phones and computer screens suck me dry
and I await my submerging.

Poem 2-Ants

Like a queen of a colony he sits barricaded in his office,
there is a ominous front that hangs in the air within his doorway-
a warning to all who seek to conference.
The workers, drones, scuffle here and there busy to prepare their masterpiece so as to please him.
They live dedicating their days just to serve him.
But is respect true when backed by fear?
A leader of a colony must well deserve such dedication-
but how high in regard is he held at night when the work day is through?
And what of this leader, this tyrant, the queen...
does he sleep sound at night because his job is done?

I love those poems, I find humor in thinking about the summer and circumstances that surround them. I hope my mommy will post her awesome poems she wrote this week while in New Orleans! I feed off of her brilliance! Keep living life...Layne

My Life Over the Past Month and a Half

Since my last post.....

Had a new niece born: Macy Elizabeth Stalvey
am in the process of working out my last two days at State Farm here in Florence
have taken a job working for agent Theresa Miley in Irmo, SC (March 1st starting date)
colored my hair with blonde highlights....
learned how to Skype www.skype.com
learned how to Chatroulette www.chatroulette.com
started packing our house to move....
started reading the Bible beginning to end with the B90D program! (about to start Ruth)

Right now I'm looking forward to being back in Columbia with my family and friends, no matter how temporary that may be. I've got my first week home packed with TV nights and dinners with my girlfriends! And some x-box challenges to attend with Chandler to school him (no pun intended) in Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader (which I am)

Chad and I are praying every night that the Lord will see fit to give him an agency opportunity soon and get us somewhere that we know we will be forever! I am dying to buy a house and decorate so that we have somewhere fabulous for our friends and family to stay!

We enjoying this awesome time in the second year of our marriage, making changes and growing. I'll post some pictures of recent events soon! Keep living your life! Layne

This one is for Mary Lee and Lana

So I'm in Myrtle Beach for the weekend hanging out at the in-laws house after church about to eat some biscuits and gravy and my good old partner in crime, Mary Lee, called me to let me know she was upset that she had never seen my blog. I told her she wasn't stalking me hard enough. After a rousing story about a game of Jenga, our friend Scuba Steve, and reminiscing about old times I decided I needed to blog a little for her sake. I'm about to have a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal on Tuesday coming and I'm preparing lists of foods I can eat and movies for me to watch while I'm stuck in bed..here is what I have so far, I'd love some more suggestions:

Foods:
Chicken broth with garlic and butter
those frozen fruit popsicles
Ramen noodles
creamed corn
mint chocolate ice cream
mashed potatoes

Movies:
Pride and Prejudice- Keira Knightly version
Hannah Montana the movie
Baseketball
Love Actually
Phantom of the Opera

I love you, Man

Anyway, that's all I can think of right now, I'll probably have to document the whole procedure, and how busted and in pain I look after the fact.

I'm seriously glad the holidays are over, they weren't fun enough to be worth the hassle this year. I did enjoy seeing my parents in from Memphis for a short time and our nights spent at the beach with Chad's side of the family. We like to be there are much as possible to spend time with our nice and nephew. Here is a pic of Carson since I haven't posted one yet, it's actually the Christmas card pic Chad's parents sent out.

That's Jen and Justin on the left, Jen is due to have our second niece, Macy Elizabeth Floyd, on February 15th but I'm calling that she pops in January. Then Chad's oldest sister Nicole and her husband Craig, my second mom and dad (Greg and Carol) and our nephew Carson and niece, Taylor. I'll be sure to post some Christmas pics soon and update through out the surgery process, I mean what else am I going to do with two big holes in my throat and a liquid diet for 2 weeks. I'm going to feel like butt. Man. But to think I wont have sore throats anymore is divine. Til then, love your life. Live your life. Layne
